Young Adult

Young adulthood is an exciting time in life, with challenges uniquely its own: living away from home for the first time, beginning a new job, learning to operate on a budget, the freedom to make new choices… and the consequences that result from making them! That extra responsibility adds up fast, doesn’t it?

At Mount Pisgah, we recognize the challenges that young adults face today and know that there’s no better home-away-from-home than getting together at God’s house! To connect with other college-age and young adults at Mount Pisgah, check out the opportunities below.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men (UMM) is a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek His will on a daily basis. UMM seeks to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, Christian service, and Christian fellowship. The main objectives are to support the United Methodist Church, to engage in outreach to the community and world, and to strive to clarify the identity and role of the Christian man in contemporary society.

The United Methodist Men have monthly dinner meetings (September through May) with special speakers on a variety of topics. Activities are designed to give men a great opportunity for fellowship and include church-wide pancake breakfasts, hamburger suppers, ice cream socials, etc. Fundraisers include an annual Brunswick stew sale. There are ample opportunities for any man to take part in as many of the activities as desired.

The service projects of the United Methodist Men include support of missions within Mount Pisgah, such as Scouting, the Whobodies Youth Group, and the ELP Scholarship Fund. Service projects also include support of outreach missions including Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, Urban Ministry, and Triad Children’s Home.

UMM is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for any man. The group is open to all men over age 17, including visitors. You are encouraged to get involved!

For additional information, contact the Church Office at (336) 288-3321.

United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women (UMW) is the group of women at Mt. Pisgah organized for missions. Because the United Methodist Church is a connectional church, local units of UMW relate directly to district and conference organizations. The organized unit is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand the concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. A member of UMW is one who commits herself to our purpose and chooses to participate in monthly meetings, prayer, giving, study, action, and/or service. General UMW meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month.

Our local church unit is divided into subgroups called circles, which also meet monthly–during the second week of the month, September to May–but on varying days and times to accommodate individual schedules. These meetings provide the opportunity for spiritual growth, Christian service and fellowship. Circles also become wonderful support groups. Your circle friends will be there to rejoice with you in good times and to give you support and encouragement in difficult times.

Circle 1: Meets Second Monday at 7:10 p.m. (Library)

Circle 2: Meets Second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. (Conference Room)

Circle 4: Meets First Thursday at 4:00 p.m. (Parlor)

Circle 5: Meets Second Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (Conference Room)

Circle 6: Meets Second Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (Conference Room)

We hope you will choose a time convenient to your schedule and join a circle so that you may grow to know God and other church members in a special way!

The UMW is extremely active in ministry at Mount Pisgah through service and the support of many mission projects. We strive to make a difference in our own lives, the lives of our fellow UMW members, our church, our community, and our world. Membership is open to all women of the church. We invite all to join us.
